protect our green belt from development
Gravesham Borough Council are consulting on whether to alter the Meopham, Istead Rise, Culverstone, Shorne And Riverview green belt so they can build on it instead of the brownfield sites in the borough. Their reasoning behind it is that developers don’t want to build on brownfield sites as there isn’t enough profit in it so they are considering altering the green belt boundary to offer fields such as the one above for development.
The public consultation ends on the 22th December 2011 so unless you think :-
- The roads can cope with a few thousand more vehicles each day
- Happy to loose 80+ acres of farm land forever
- Schools, doctors, dentists can cope with 1000’s more residents
- Resources i.e. drains, water supply , electricity, gas are not stretched
- Happy to turn Meopham, Culverstone, Istead Rise, Shorne & Riverview into towns
Then you need to tell the council before the 22th December 2011
There are currently three facebook groups setup to fight the proposals
